Scarlet Rivera
Scarlet Rivera, born Donna Shea in 1950 in Chicago, Illinois, is an acclaimed American violinist known for her significant contributions to various music genres, including rock, Celtic, new-age, and world music. She gained prominence through her collaboration with Bob Dylan, particularly on his 1976 album "Desire" and as a member of the Rolling Thunder Revue. Rivera's classical violin training began privately and continued at the Mannes School of Music.

Her discovery by Bob Dylan was serendipitous; while walking in Greenwich Village with her violin case, she was spotted by Dylan, who invited her to his rehearsal studio. This chance encounter led to her participation in the Rolling Thunder Revue tour and her influential role on the "Desire" album.

In 1977, Rivera released her debut LP, although it received mixed reviews. Despite this, she continued to explore and innovate within her music, recording multiple albums across various styles. Rivera has performed globally with her Celtic group and appeared as a soloist with the Duke Ellington Orchestra at prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center.

Rivera has collaborated with numerous artists, including Tracy Chapman, Keb Mo', Dee Dee Bridgewater, David Johansen, and the Indigo Girls. She has also been involved in projects such as the 2019 film "Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story" by Martin Scorsese and celebrated Joni Mitchell's music in concert events.

Continuing her active career, Rivera released the EP "All of Me" in 2020 and collaborated on a new version of "Hurricane" in 2021 to honor Bob Dylan's 80th birthday. Her enduring passion for music and her innovative use of the violin have solidified her status as a versatile and influential artist.
