Whitfield Crane, born William Whitfield Crane IV on January 19, 1968, in Palo Alto, California, is an American singer best known as the founding member and lead vocalist of the rock band Ugly Kid Joe. Crane's journey into music began after his father left the family, which sparked his interest in rock music. His sister's gift of AC/DC and Lynyrd Skynyrd records further fueled his passion.

Ugly Kid Joe was formed in 1989 in Isla Vista, California, and gained fame with their 1991 debut EP "As Ugly As They Wanna Be," which sold a million copies, driven by the hit single "Everything About You." Beyond Ugly Kid Joe, Crane has been involved in various musical projects, including performing with Life of Agony, Medication, and Another Animal. He also collaborated with Lee Richards in the project Richards/Crane and fronted the Orchestra of Doom, performing with a 32-piece orchestra.

Crane's career is marked by colorful anecdotes, such as standing in for Ozzy Osbourne during Black Sabbath rehearsals, and his various collaborations, including guest vocals for Motörhead and Glenn Tipton of Judas Priest. Despite his success, Crane has maintained that he never truly felt like a rock star, except during the early days of Ugly Kid Joe.
