Wet Wet Wet
Wet Wet Wet is a Scottish band formed in 1982 in Clydebank, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. Known for their soft rock, sophisti-pop, and blue-eyed soul genres, the band achieved significant success in the 1980s and 1990s. They are perhaps best known for their 1994 cover of the Troggs' hit "Love Is All Around," which featured on the soundtrack of the film "Four Weddings and a Funeral" and topped the UK singles chart for 15 weeks.
The band was originally formed at Clydebank High School under the name Vortex Motion, and the lineup included Neil Mitchell (keyboards), Tommy Cunningham (drums), Graeme Clark (bass), Mark McLachlan (vocals, later known as Marti Pellow), and Lindsey McCauley (guitar). Graeme Duffin joined as a touring musician in 1983. Wet Wet Wet's name was inspired by a line from a Scritti Politti song.
Wet Wet Wet's early years were marked by rehearsals in Graeme Clark's kitchen and performances at local venues, eventually leading to their professional debut at Glasgow's Barrowlands. Their breakthrough came with a series of hits in the UK and international charts.
The band experienced a split in 1999 but reformed in 2004. In 2017, Marti Pellow left the band to pursue solo work, and Kevin Simm was announced as the new lead vocalist in 2018. As of now, the band consists of Graeme Clark, Graeme Duffin, and Kevin Simm. Wet Wet Wet continues to perform and produce music, maintaining their connection to their Glasgow roots and their early influences.
