Tony Sacco
Tony Sacco, sometimes known as Tony Starr, was an American musician active in the recording industry between 1931 and 1950. He was a versatile artist, contributing as a vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter. Sacco was involved in numerous recordings, often collaborating with jazz and dance bands. Notable among these collaborations was his work with the Hotel Weylin Orchestra under the direction of Enric Madriguera, where he frequently performed as a vocalist. Some of the songs he recorded include "You and the Night and the Music," "Maria," and "If There's Someone Lovelier Than You." Sacco was also credited as a songwriter for pieces like "The Breeze (That's Bringin' My Honey Back to Me)" and "I Thrill When They Mention Your Name." Born Antonio Sacco on September 17, 1905, in Manhattan, New York, he was the son of Calogero Sacco and Vincenza Santangelo. He was married to Rosalia Nancy DeLuca in 1937. Tony Sacco passed away on July 14, 1972, in Jamaica, Queens County, New York.
