Tony Haselden
Tony Haselden was a renowned musician and songwriter, born in South Carolina. He moved to Louisiana as a teenager and taught himself to play guitar during his four-year service in the Navy. After earning a college degree, Haselden co-founded the rock band LeRoux in 1977. The band, initially named Louisiana’s LeRoux, gained popularity with hits like “Nobody Said It Was Easy,” which peaked at No. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100. LeRoux toured nationally, sharing stages with major acts like the Allman Brothers and ZZ Top.

When LeRoux went on hiatus, Haselden transitioned to Nashville, where he achieved success as a country songwriter. He wrote or co-wrote numerous hits, including Keith Whitley’s “It Ain’t Nothin’,” George Strait’s “You Know Me Better Than That,” and Collin Raye’s “That’s My Story.” His songs were recorded by over 40 Nashville artists, including Reba McEntire, Shania Twain, and Kid Rock.

Haselden also worked as a record producer, crafting tracks for The Kinleys and The Wilkinsons. His contributions to music were recognized with inductions into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame and the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame Songwriters’ Association Hall of Fame in 2010.

Tony Haselden passed away on May 16, 2025, at the age of 79, leaving behind a legacy of influential music and cherished memories among friends and fans.
