Catalino "Tite" Curet Alonso was a prolific Latin music composer born on February 12, 1926, in the Barrio Hoyo Inglés in Guayama, Puerto Rico, and raised in the Barrio Obrero section of Santurce. His father was a Spanish teacher and a musician with the orchestra of Simón Madera. Tite Curet Alonso is renowned for his extensive body of work, having composed numerous songs that have become staples in various Latin music genres, including salsa, boleros, folk, Spanish trio music, and the Puerto Rican African roots rhythms of bomba and plena. He passed away on August 5, 2003.
