The Association
The Association is an American sunshine pop band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1965. Known for their intricate vocal harmonies, the group achieved significant success in the late 1960s with hits like "Windy," "Cherish," "Never My Love," and "Along Comes Mary." They were also the opening act at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival. The band's best-known lineup included Terry Kirkman, Russ Giguere, Jim Yester, Jules Alexander, Brian Cole, and Ted Bluechel Jr. Over the years, the band underwent several lineup changes, with notable members like Larry Ramos joining and leaving. Despite these changes, The Association continued to perform and record music, with their influence recognized by their induction into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2003. Their music, often categorized as sunshine pop, also ventured into psychedelic pop and folk rock, earning them a lasting legacy in the pop music landscape.
