Terry Gilkyson
Terry Gilkyson, born Hamilton Henry Gilkyson III on June 17, 1916, and passing on October 15, 1999, was a distinguished American songwriter and composer. He gained significant recognition for his work with Disney, most notably for his song "The Bare Necessities" from the 1967 animated film The Jungle Book, which earned him an Academy Award nomination in 1968. Gilkyson also contributed to other Disney projects, writing songs such as "Thomas O'Malley Cat" from The Aristocats (1970), the title songs for The Moon-Spinners (1964) and The Three Lives of Thomasina (1964), and "Scarecrow" from The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh (1964). His contributions to music extend beyond these works, and he remains a cherished figure in Disney's musical history.
