Ted Buckner
Theodore Guy Buckner (December 14, 1913, St. Louis, Missouri - April 12, 1976, Detroit, Michigan) was an American jazz saxophonist, clarinetist, and flutist. He was the brother of Milt Buckner. Raised in Detroit, Buckner began his musical career there before joining McKinney's Cotton Pickers. He gained prominence as a member of Jimmie Lunceford's orchestra from 1937 to 1943. After his tenure with Lunceford, Buckner primarily performed locally in Detroit, engaging in small jazz combos, working in the Motown studios, and co-leading a big band with Jimmy Wilkins, the brother of Ernie Wilkins. In 1975, he toured Europe and participated in the New McKinney's Cotton Pickers during that decade.
