Spice Girls
The Spice Girls are an English pop girl group formed in London in 1994. The group consists of Melanie Brown ("Scary Spice"), Melanie Chisholm ("Sporty Spice"), Emma Bunton ("Baby Spice"), Geri Halliwell ("Ginger Spice"), and Victoria Beckham ("Posh Spice"). They became the best-selling girl group of all time, selling over 100 million records worldwide. Known for their "girl power" mantra, the Spice Girls redefined the girl-group concept and became cultural icons of the 1990s.

Their debut single "Wannabe" was released in 1996 and reached number one in 37 countries. Their first album, Spice, sold over 31 million copies, becoming the best-selling album by a female group in history. The follow-up album, Spiceworld, sold over 20 million copies. They were a major part of the Cool Britannia era and led the teen pop resurgence of the 1990s.

The group embarked on a highly successful world tour in 1998, but Geri Halliwell left the group mid-tour. Despite her departure, the Spice Girls continued to achieve success with their third album, Forever, in 2000. They went on hiatus that year to focus on solo careers but reunited for tours in 2007–2008 and 2019, as well as performing at the 2012 Summer Olympics closing ceremony. Their influence and success have been compared to that of The Beatles, and they remain one of the most successful marketing engines in pop history.
