Sergey „Pahom“ Pahomov
Sergey Igorievich Pahomov, known as Pakhom, was born on November 4, 1966, in Moscow, USSR. He is a multifaceted Soviet and Russian underground artist, actor, screenwriter, musician, interior designer, and stand-up comedian, recognized for his avant-garde style. Pakhom gained notoriety for his role as "The Gone One" in the cult film "Green Elephant" (1999) by Svetlana Baskova. His career spans various creative fields, including painting, where he has showcased his work in numerous exhibitions across Europe and the United States.
Pakhom's early life was marked by challenges, including a stint in a psychiatric hospital in 1986, which was an alternative to military service in Afghanistan. Despite these challenges, he pursued his passion for art, graduating from the Krasnopresnenskaya Art School in 1981 and the Kalinin Moscow School of Arts and Industry in 1985. His interest in icon painting during his student years laid the foundation for his later artistic endeavors.
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Pakhom participated in various art exhibitions, both in Russia and internationally. His work has been featured in prestigious venues such as the Saatchi Gallery in London and the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow. In addition to his visual art, Pakhom has been involved in the music scene, collaborating with various artists and releasing several albums.
Pakhom's unique persona, often described as a blend of idiocy and absurdity, extends to his performances in stand-up comedy and his participation in the reality TV show "Battle of the Psychics" in 2015, where he reached the finals. His unconventional methods and eccentric style have earned him a dedicated following.
In addition to his artistic pursuits, Pakhom has worked as an art director for several glossy magazines, including "Elle Decor" and "Marie Claire." His diverse career reflects his refusal to conform to traditional artistic boundaries, embracing a life that he describes as "a happy carnival."
