Sergei Slovachevsky
Sergei Slovachevsky is a distinguished cellist who graduated and completed postgraduate studies at the Petersburg Conservatoire under the guidance of Professor A.P. Nikitin. He further honed his skills with the renowned cellist Natalia Gutman. Slovachevsky has received numerous accolades, including first prizes at the All-Russia Cellist's Competition named after K. Davydov and the All-Union Competition in 1988, as well as the International Competition of Chamber Music named after Viotti in Italy in 1991. He was also awarded a special prize at the Bavarian Radio ARD Competition.
Sergei Slovachevsky is an active performer, touring extensively in Russia and internationally in countries such as Italy, France, Finland, Germany, Slovakia, Poland, Turkey, and Japan. He collaborates with prominent orchestras and esteemed conductors including Yuri Temirkanov, Mariss Jansons, Maxim Shostakovich, Nikolai Alekseev, Saulius Sondeckis, Kurt Sanderling, and Pavel Stejnberg. Slovachevsky is a regular participant in international festivals across Italy, Germany, Finland, Japan, Latvia, and Belarus.
In addition to his solo career, Slovachevsky performs in an ensemble with the Petersburg pianist Igor Uryash, with whom he has recorded cello sonatas by Beethoven and Debussy. His discography includes a recording of Bach's Six Suites for Solo Cello, released in 2006. Slovachevsky has also recorded a Cello Concerto composed by Mikhail Nosyrev with the Mussorgsky Opera and Ballet Theatre Orchestra, conducted by Andrei Anikhanov, released in 2001.
