Ron Stockert
Ron Stockert is a keyboardist, singer-songwriter, and arranger who began his music career in Decatur, Illinois, during the 1960s. He was a key performer in the group The Light Brigade alongside Steve Hunter. Stockert later joined the Bo Street Runners and became a prominent member of the band Rufus in 1971, coinciding with the arrival of singer Chaka Khan. Rufus gained success, and in 1973, they signed with ABC Records. Their second album, "Rags to Rufus," featured the Top 5 hit "Tell Me Something Good," written by Stevie Wonder. Stockert left Rufus shortly after the album's release, along with Al Ciner and Dennis Belfield.
In 1976, Stockert joined Three Dog Night as the second keyboard player, replacing Skip Konte, and recorded on their album "American Pastime" before the group disbanded the same year. He later performed with The Illinois Band for many years. Throughout his career, Stockert contributed to numerous albums by artists such as Etta James, Jackie Lomax, Brenda Russell, Candi Staton, and Tina Turner.
