Paulo Jobime
Paulo Hermanny Jobim (4 August 1950 – 4 November 2022) was a Brazilian singer, guitarist, flutist, arranger, environmentalist, and architect. Born in Rio de Janeiro, he was the son of the legendary composer Antônio Carlos Jobim, often credited as the founder of bossa nova, and Tereza Hermanny Jobim. From a young age, Paulo was immersed in a rich musical environment, learning to play a variety of instruments and engaging with the vibrant musical scene of his time. He was particularly known for his interpretations of his father's music, as well as his own compositions and arrangements.
In addition to his musical pursuits, Paulo Jobim was an architect, having graduated from the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning at the Universidade Santa Úrsula in Rio de Janeiro. Despite his architectural background, he ultimately devoted himself to music, contributing significantly to Brazilian music alongside other renowned artists. Paulo Jobim passed away in Gávea, Rio de Janeiro, leaving behind a legacy that includes his son, pianist Daniel Jobim, who continues the family's musical tradition.
