Oswaldo Viveiros Montenegro, born on March 15, 1956, in Grajaú, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is a renowned Brazilian musician celebrated for his contributions as a singer and composer. He spent a significant part of his childhood in São João Del Rey, Minas Gerais, where he was deeply influenced by the local musical culture. By the age of 8, he was already studying guitar and composing music, inspired by the serenades he attended with his father's friends.

Montenegro moved to Brasília in 1971, a city that became a central theme in his work. There, he was influenced by classical music through the Prista Tavares family, which fueled his passion for musical theory and composition. He began participating in music festivals at the age of 14, forming lifelong collaborations with artists like José Alexandre and Madalena Salles.

In 1975, he released his first record, "Sem Mandamentos," and has since recorded over 50 albums. Montenegro is also known for composing soundtracks for plays, ballets, films, and television. He was married to actress Paloma Duarte and is recognized for his significant impact on Brazilian music, particularly in the genre of MPB (Música Popular Brasileira).
