Mungo Jerry
Mungo Jerry is a British rock band formed in 1970 by Ray Dorset in Ashford, Middlesex, England. Known for their eclectic blend of rock, folk, blues, and country, the band gained international fame with their hit single "In the Summertime," which sold between 8 and 16 million copies worldwide. The song was notable for being the first maxi single ever released and topped the UK Singles Chart for seven weeks. Mungo Jerry's lineup has changed over the years, but Ray Dorset has remained the constant frontman. The band initially gained prominence after performing at the Hollywood Music Festival in 1970, where they shared the stage with prominent acts like Black Sabbath and the Grateful Dead. They also performed at major European festivals, including the Rotterdam Pop Festival, alongside legendary bands such as Jefferson Airplane and Pink Floyd. Despite numerous lineup changes, Mungo Jerry continues to perform, maintaining a presence in the music scene to this day.
