Mitchell Parish
Mitchell Parish, born Michael Hyman Pashelinsky on July 10, 1900, and passing on March 31, 1993, was an American lyricist renowned for his contributions to songs for stage and screen. He worked with music publisher Jack Mills, the brother of Irving Mills. Parish's most notable works include the lyrics for "Stardust," "Sweet Lorraine," "Deep Purple," "Stars Fell on Alabama," and "Sophisticated Lady." He also translated the lyrics of "Volare" and "Blue Skirt Waltz" into English. Other famous songs featuring his lyrics are "Moonlight Serenade," "Mr. Ghost Goes to Town," "Sleigh Ride," "One Morning in May," and "Louisiana Fairy Tale."
