Mikis Theodorakis
Mikis Theodorakis (1925-2021) was a renowned Greek composer and songwriter, recognized as one of Greece's most prominent musical figures. Born on July 29, 1925, in Chios, Greece, Theodorakis was of Cretan and Asia Minor descent. Over his lifetime, he composed more than 1000 songs, contributing significantly to Greek music. Apart from his musical career, Theodorakis was also a political figure, serving as a minister and being elected four times as a member of the Greek parliament with the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and New Democracy (ND). He was also an activist and received various accolades for his contributions. Some of his popular works include "Zorba’s Dance" and "Theme From Zorba the Greek."
