Michael Davis (June 5, 1943 – February 17, 2012) was an American bass guitarist, singer, songwriter, and music producer, best known for his role as a member of the influential rock band MC5. After leaving Wayne State University's fine arts program, Davis joined MC5 in 1964, replacing the original bassist Pat Burrows. His tenure with the band included playing on their debut album "Kick Out the Jams" and continued until 1972. Following a prison sentence in the mid-1970s, Davis joined the art noise band Destroy All Monsters, contributing to their underground punk hits and touring the UK. Later, he moved to Tucson, Arizona, and played with Blood Orange and Rich Hopkins and Luminarios. In 2003, Davis reunited with surviving MC5 members for a world tour and new recordings. After a motorcycle accident in 2006, he co-founded The Music Is Revolution Foundation with his wife to support music education in schools. Davis also worked as a music producer, creating albums for bands like The Mother's Anger and Dollhouse.
