Londonbeat
Londonbeat is a British dance-pop band formed in London in 1988. The band originally consisted of vocalists Jimmy Helms, Jimmy Chambers, and George Chandler, with Charles Pierre and Willy M joining later. Known for their harmonious blend of soul, pop, and R&B with technodance, Londonbeat gained international fame with their 1990 hit single "I've Been Thinking About You," which topped the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Dance Music/Club Play charts in 1991. Their debut album, Speak, featured the successful track "There's a Beat Going On," while their follow-up album, In the Blood, included other hits like "A Better Love."
Over the years, Londonbeat has seen several lineup changes, with members such as Marc Goldschmitz and Myles Kayne contributing to the band's evolving sound. Despite these changes, the core of the band has remained focused on creating infectious dance music that continues to resonate with audiences. Londonbeat has released six studio albums and numerous compilations, maintaining their presence in the music scene with projects like the 2019 retrospective album, 30 Years.
In addition to their chart-topping success, Londonbeat attempted to enter the Eurovision Song Contest in 1995 with the track "I'm Just Your Puppet on a ... (String)," though they did not make it past the UK heats. The band continues to perform and produce music, with current members Jimmy Helms, Jimmy Chambers, and Charles Pierre leading the charge.
