Krzysztof Scieranski
Krzysztof Ścierański, born on August 24, 1954, is a renowned Polish jazz and rock bassist, composer, and guitarist. Over his 50-year career, he has been celebrated as one of Poland's leading jazz bassists, recognized by "Jazz Forum" magazine since 1984. Ścierański has been an integral member of prominent Polish bands such as Anawa, Laboratorium, Air Condition, and String Connection. In the 1980s, he began leading supergroups like the Ścierański Surzyn Trio, Ścierański Trio, Music Painters, The Colors, New Quartet, and Ścierański Quartet.

His collaborations with notable artists such as Marek Grechuta, Zbigniew Namysłowski, and Tomasz Stańko have been pivotal in his musical development. Ścierański's discography includes 163 albums, with 12 being his original works. His music has reached audiences at international jazz festivals across 27 European countries, India, Indonesia, Canada, and the United States.

Ścierański's innovative contributions to music include pioneering solo bass guitar recitals and exploring sonoristic sounds and techniques. His performances have been admired by global music icons like Pat Metheny and Esperanza Spalding. In recognition of his cultural impact, he was awarded the Gloria Artis medal by Poland's Minister of Culture and the Pro Masovia medal by the Marshal of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship in 2024.
