Kirsty Hawkshaw, born on October 26, 1969, in London, England, is an acclaimed English electronic music vocalist and songwriter. She is best known as the lead vocalist of the early 1990s dance group Opus III. Hawkshaw's career in music was influenced by her father, Alan Hawkshaw, a notable British composer and disco record producer. Her breakthrough came when she was noticed by producers Ian Munro, Kevin Dodds, and Nigel Walton at a rave in 1990, leading to the formation of Opus III. Their first single, "It's A Fine Day," became an international hit, reaching the top of the US Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in 1992. After Opus III disbanded in 1994, Hawkshaw pursued a successful solo career and collaborated with various artists in the dance, house, Eurodance, trance, and electronica genres, including Tiësto and Delerium.
