Kheops
DJ Kheops, whose real name is Éric Mazel, was born on October 27, 1966, in Paris, France. He is a renowned French DJ and producer, recognized as one of the pioneers of the hip-hop movement in France. Kheops discovered his passion for music at a young age, influenced by the American hip-hop sounds that reached France in the late 1970s. He began his career by experimenting with turntables and mixing vinyl at local parties.
In 1987, Kheops co-founded the influential rap group IAM with friends, including Akhenaton, Shurik'n, Imhotep, and Kephren. The group's debut album, "From the Planet Mars," released in 1991, was a major success and helped propel Kheops into the spotlight. Known for his mastery of the turntables and innovative mixing of different music styles, Kheops introduced oriental sounds into his compositions, contributing to the evolution of urban music in France.
