K Perazzo
Karl Perazzo is a renowned percussionist born and raised in San Francisco's Mission District. He began playing drums at the age of two and was performing in a band formed by his parents by the age of seven. His talent was evident early on, as he played with jazz vibraphonist Cal Tjader while still in sixth grade. Perazzo is a self-taught musician who has achieved significant acclaim in the realms of pop, jazz, rock, and Latin music.
Perazzo's career includes playing with an impressive array of artists such as Malo, Jorge Santana, Dizzy Gillespie, Andy Narell, Ray Obiedo, Tom Coster, Pete and Coke Escovedo, Dennis Chambers, Sheila E., The Artist (formerly known as Prince), Mariah Carey, Paquito D'Rivera, and John Lee Hooker. He is also noted for his contributions to Latin music, having worked with legends like Tito Puente, Machete, and Ruben Blades.
In 1991, Perazzo fulfilled a lifelong dream by joining the Santana Band, where he plays timbales. He has recorded three albums with Santana, including a live album in South America. His performances extend beyond music recordings to appearances on numerous television shows such as American Bandstand, Soul Train, Solid Gold, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and The Late Show with David Letterman. Notably, he was the first percussionist to be invited to sit in with The Arsenio Hall Show house band multiple times.
Perazzo is also dedicated to education, frequently traveling across the United States to conduct clinics for the Latin Percussion Music Group. He believes in sharing his knowledge and passion for music with people worldwide. His international reputation is further solidified by his collaborations with top acts in Japan and Italy.
