Julián Plaza (9 July 1928 – 19 April 2003) was a prominent Argentine musician renowned for his contributions to the tango genre as a composer, conductor, pianist, bandoneonist, and arranger. Born in General Manuel Campos, La Pampa Province, Argentina, Plaza learned music from his father and furthered his studies in Buenos Aires. He began his professional career at 15 as a bandoneonist in Edgardo Donato's orchestra and later joined other notable ensembles, including those led by Antonio Rodio, Miguel Caló, and Osvaldo Pugliese.

Plaza was a versatile musician, adept at both the piano and bandoneon, and he became a key figure in the Sexteto Tango, a group that emerged from Pugliese's orchestra. His work as an arranger was particularly significant, influencing the sound of orchestras led by Aníbal Troilo and Osvaldo Pugliese, among others. Plaza's compositions, such as "Danzarín," "Sensiblero," and "Melancólico," are celebrated for their distinctive style and have become classics in the tango repertoire.

Throughout his career, Plaza remained committed to the authentic roots of tango while also embracing modern influences. His contributions earned him a respected place in the history of tango music.
