Jimmy Rushing

Known affectionately as "Mr. Five By Five" due to his portly stature, Rushing was celebrated as one of the finest blues shouters to grace the bandstand. He gained prominence during his tenure with Count Basie's Orchestra in the 1930s and '40s, where his voice became synonymous with the swing era's sound.
