Il était une fois was a French pop band formed in Paris in 1972. The group was fronted by lead vocalist Joëlle Mogensen and included members Serge Koolenn, Richard Dewitte, Lionel Gaillardin, Bruno Walker, and Christian Burguière. Later, Walker and Burguière were replaced by Jean-Louis Dronne and Daniel Schnitzer. The band was signed to the Pathé Marconi label and was active until 1979 when they disbanded following Mogensen's departure.
During their career, Il était une fois released four studio albums: "Il était une fois" (1972), "Ils vécurent heureux" (1975), "Tourne la page" (1977), and "Pomme" (1978). They also released numerous singles, with "J'ai encore rêvé d'elle" being particularly successful, selling over a million copies. Despite their breakup, the band's music continued to be celebrated through various compilation albums released in subsequent years. Joëlle Mogensen passed away in 1982 at the age of 29.
