Hanna Dora Sturludottir
Hanna Dóra Sturludóttir is an Icelandic classical singer known for her international career in opera and concert. She performs both traditional repertoire and new music and has been honored with the Icelandic Music Award.
Career and performance
International stages: Sturludóttir has performed in prestigious venues worldwide, including in Germany (Komische Oper, Staatsoper Berlin, Bayerische Staatsoper München), Poland, Austria, France, Canada, Egypt, and Qatar.
Icelandic opera: She has taken on numerous roles with the Icelandic Opera, including the title role in Carmen, Princess Eboli in Don Carlo, and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni.
New music: A special emphasis of her work is the performance of new music. She has collaborated with the Berlin-based opera troupe Novoflot and with Icelandic composer Snorri Sigfús Birgisson.
Awards and recognition
Icelandic Music Award: She received the "Classical Singer of the Year" award in 2014 for her performance as Eboli in Don Carlo. She has also received multiple nominations in other years.
Gríma Award: Sturludóttir was nominated for the Gríma Award for singer of the year for her role in the 2021 opera KOK.
Teaching
In addition to her performing career, she teaches at the Sigurður Demetz School of Singing and at the Iceland Academy of the Arts.
