Gabriel Luna de la Fuente
Gabriel Luna de la Fuente was a Mexican poet, lyricist, and composer born on March 19, 1909, in Tacubaya, a traditional neighborhood in the western part of Mexico City. He was the son of musician Ernesto Luna Rivera, known for the waltz "Perjura," and Elena de la Fuente. Gabriel grew up in a musical environment and began writing poetry as a teenager. Although he studied accounting and commerce, he pursued a career in music starting in 1928, working with the Orquesta Típica Lerdo de Tejada.

During his career, Luna de la Fuente became known for his contributions to the genres of boleros, corridos, danzonetes, and beguine. Some of his notable works include "Duerme," "Condición," "¿Qué te pedí?," and "Grito prisionero." He was also part of the Trío Chachalacas, which performed traditional Mexican music and appeared in films such as "Al son de la marimba" and "El último chinaco." The trio gained popularity in the United States, particularly in California and Texas.

Luna de la Fuente's music was widely disseminated through radio, contributing to his national recognition. He married Imelda Nájera Moncada in 1936, and they had seven children. He dedicated himself fully to composition from 1942 until his death from a brain tumor on November 1, 1954, at the age of 45. His works remain influential in Mexican culture and continue to be performed by contemporary artists.
