Fred Wise
Fred Wise was an American lyricist born on May 27, 1915, in New York City, and he passed away on January 18, 1966, in the same city. He was known for his collaborative songwriting, particularly in the 1940s and 1950s. Wise co-wrote the lyrics to the 1948 song "'A' — You're Adorable" with Buddy Kaye and Sid Lippman, a song popularized by Perry Como. He contributed to numerous songs for Elvis Presley's films, including "Follow That Dream," "I Got Lucky," and "Wooden Heart," the latter being an English-language adaptation for the film G.I. Blues. Wise's work also extended to films such as King Creole, Wild in the Country, and Kid Galahad. He often collaborated with songwriters like Kay Twomey, Ben Weisman, and Bert Kaempfert. Fred Wise attended Columbia University, graduating in 1935, and was of Jewish descent. His contributions to music continued to be recognized posthumously, with his songs featured in films like Jerry Maguire and Pulp Fiction.
