Frank Denny De Vol (September 20, 1911 – October 27, 1999) was an American composer, arranger, bandleader, and actor, known for his extensive work in film and television music. Born in Moundsville, West Virginia, and raised in Canton, Ohio, De Vol was immersed in music from a young age, joining the Musicians' Union at 14 and playing in his father's orchestra. He gained prominence as an arranger for top singers like Nat King Cole and Ella Fitzgerald and was noted for his arrangement of Cole's "Nature Boy." De Vol composed scores for over 50 films, earning five Academy Award nominations for his work, including scores for "Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner" and "Pillow Talk." His television themes for shows like "My Three Sons" and "The Brady Bunch" became iconic. De Vol also acted in films such as "The Parent Trap" and appeared on the sitcom "Fernwood 2 Nite." He was married twice, first to Grayce Agnes McGinty and later to singer Helen O'Connell, with whom he performed on cruise ships. De Vol passed away in Lafayette, California, at the age of 88.
