Francini & Pontier y su Orquesta Tipica
Orquesta Francini-Pontier was a prominent Argentine tango orchestra formed in 1945 by violinist Enrique Mario Francini and bandoneonist Armando Pontier. Both musicians began their careers in Juan Ehlert's orchestra before joining Miguel Caló's ensemble in 1939, where they played alongside talents like Osmar Maderna and Domingo Federico. Seeking to create their own legacy, Francini and Pontier debuted their orchestra on September 1, 1945, at Tango Bar in Buenos Aires. Their initial lineup included notable musicians such as Juan José Paz on piano and singers Raúl Berón and Alberto Podestá. The orchestra quickly gained popularity, performing on Radio El Mundo and releasing their first recording with RCA Records in 1946. Known for their innovative yet danceable style, they became a staple in venues like Piccadilly and Tibidabo cabaret. The orchestra's success continued until their amicable split in 1955, leaving behind a rich discography of over 100 recordings, including hits like "Sirva otra copa" and "Margo."
