Ewald Hintz
Ewald Hintz, also known as Ewaldt Hinsch, was a German organist and composer born in 1613 in Gdańsk (then Danzig). He was baptized on April 24, 1613, and was the son of Martin Hintz. Hintz studied under Johann Jakob Froberger, a notable composer and organist of the time. His career as an organist began in 1643 at St. Johann's Church in Gdańsk, where he played the large organ. By 1656, he was serving as an organist at the Danish court. Around 1660, he succeeded Paul Siefert as the organist at St. Mary's Church in Gdańsk, a position he held until approximately 1666.

Hintz is recognized for his contributions to the North German organ school, and his only surviving work is an organ chorale, "Allein zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ," which is included in the Pelplin Tablature. This piece, characterized by its elaborate style, was published in the Corpus of Early Keyboard Music and has been linked to Hintz by musicologists. He passed away in 1668 and was buried on July 25 of that year. His work remains a part of the rich musical heritage of Gdańsk and the Baroque period.
