Fabio Alonso Salgado, widely recognized by his stage name Estéfano, was born on August 19, 1966, in Manizales, Colombia. He is a prominent Colombian musician, singer-songwriter, and record producer. Estéfano started his musical journey by moving to the United States in 1989, aiming to establish himself as a songwriter. He secured his first publishing deal in 1992 with Foreign Imported Productions, owned by Emilio Estefan Jr. His initial success came with Jon Secada's album "Otro Día Más Sin Verte," contributing to the number one hits "Cree en Nuestro Amor" and "Sentir."

Estéfano's career further flourished as he wrote the majority of songs for Gloria Estefan's Grammy-winning album "Mi Tierra," including chart-topping singles like the title track and "Mi Buen Amor." He later formed the duo Donato y Estéfano with Cuban singer-songwriter Donato Poveda, releasing three studio albums between 1995 and 1999. After the duo's dissolution, Estéfano returned to songwriting and producing, creating hits for artists such as Chayanne, Paulina Rubio, and Thalía.

In 2005, Estéfano released his solo album "Código Personal: A Media Vida," although it did not achieve the same level of success as his previous work for other artists. Throughout his career, Estéfano has been recognized with numerous accolades, including seven BMI Latin Songwriter of the Year awards, and has penned 39 Top 40 hits, 22 Top Ten hits, and seven number-one hits. His contributions to Marc Anthony's "Amar Sin Mentiras" earned him a Grammy Award.
