Éric Serra
Éric Serra is a renowned French film composer, born on September 9, 1959, in Saint-Mandé, France. He grew up in a musically inclined family; his father, Claude Serra, was a notable songwriter and poet in the 1950s and 1960s. Tragically, Éric's mother passed away when he was only seven years old, which led his father to focus on his upbringing and musical education. Serra began playing guitar at the age of 11 and became a professional musician by 15, collaborating with artists like Mory Kanté and Didier Lockwood.

Serra is best known for his long-standing collaboration with director Luc Besson, scoring many of Besson's films starting with the short film "L'Avant Dernier" (1981) and continuing with "Le Dernier Combat" (1983), "Subway" (1985), and "The Big Blue" (1988), among others. His work on "The Big Blue" earned him a César Award for Best Music in 1989. Serra's music is noted for its ability to enhance the visual storytelling of Besson's films, adding depth and emotion.

In 1995, Serra composed the score for the James Bond film "GoldenEye," which was a departure from traditional Bond soundtracks, receiving mixed reviews. Despite this, his innovative approach to film scoring has been recognized, and he has been nominated for multiple César Awards throughout his career.

Apart from his film work, Serra released a rock album titled "RXRA" in 1998 and composed music for the Cirque du Soleil show "Criss Angel: Believe" in 2008. He also played bass guitar for French singer Jacques Higelin from 1980 to 1988.

Éric Serra has two children, Ashani and Mitivaï, with his partner, Australian model Jodi Luschwitz. His contributions to film music have made him a prominent figure in the industry, known for his unique style and enduring collaborations.
