Ekaterinburg Municipal Choir Domestic
The Ekaterinburg Municipal Choir "Domestic," named after V.A. Kopanev, was established in 1988 at the Sverdlovsk Pedagogical Institute's music faculty and the Ural State Conservatory. Initially an all-female ensemble, it later expanded to include male voices, forming a mixed choir. In 1993, the choir achieved municipal status and became part of the City House of Music's concert association in April 2006.

The choir's repertoire spans a wide array of genres and styles, including Russian and international choral classics from the 16th to the 20th centuries, spiritual music from various denominations, folk songs, and contemporary compositions. "Domestic" has participated and won awards at international choral festivals and competitions in countries such as Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, and Belgium. Their discography includes 14 CDs.

The choir collaborates on large-scale projects with Russian creative groups, including the Ural Philharmonic Orchestra, the Novosibirsk Jazz Band, the chamber orchestra "V-A-S-N," and the Samara Philharmonic Orchestra. The choir's founder and first artistic director was the renowned conductor V.A. Kopanev, whose unique vocal-choral methodology combined Russian and Italian singing traditions, giving the choir its distinctive "European" sound. In honor of Kopanev, the choir has carried his name since October 2010.

Currently, the choir is led by the talented young conductor Maxim Kozlov, with Elena Skurikhina, an award-winning choirmaster at international competitions, serving as the chief choirmaster.
