Doug Kershaw
Douglas James Kershaw, born on January 24, 1936, in Tiel Ridge, Cameron Parish, Louisiana, is a celebrated American musician renowned for his mastery of the fiddle. Raised on a houseboat as the seventh child of an alligator hunter, Kershaw grew up in a Cajun French-speaking environment. By the age of eight, he had not only learned English but also mastered the fiddle, eventually expanding his musical prowess to include over two dozen instruments. Known as the "king of the Cajun fiddlers," Kershaw has composed hundreds of songs, with "Louisiana Man" being among his most famous. His discography includes albums such as "Hot Diggidy Doug" (1989), "The Louisiana Man" (1978), "Swamp Grass" (1972), "Devil’s Elbow" (1972), and "Spanish Moss" (1970).
