Danny McCulloch
Danny McCulloch, born Daniel Joseph McCulloch on July 18, 1945, in Shepherd's Bush, West London, England, was a renowned English musician. He gained fame as the bassist for the 1960s psychedelic rock group Eric Burdon & The Animals. McCulloch began his musical career at a young age, performing skiffle music publicly by age eleven. His early bands included The Avro Boys and Frankie Reid & The Casuals.
In late 1966, after the original Animals disbanded, McCulloch became the first member of Eric Burdon's "New Animals." The group released several albums and hit singles like "San Franciscan Nights," "Monterey," and "Sky Pilot." McCulloch contributed as a co-author on the first two albums but was eventually replaced before the release of the third album, "Every One of Us."
Post-Animals, McCulloch released the album "Wings of a Man" in 1969 with Vic Briggs as producer. In 1971, he played bass on Reg King's solo album and briefly joined the band Renaissance. In the 1990s, McCulloch was involved in re-recording old hits with a new formation of The Animals and released a second solo album, "Beowulf," in 1995.
Apart from music, McCulloch worked as a psychiatric nurse in the 1980s. He passed away on January 29, 2015, at the age of 69.
