Daniel Wilbur Silva
Daniel Wilbur Silva is a distinguished composer and media artist originally from La Paz, Bolivia. His early life in La Paz was steeped in the rich traditions of Bolivian folk music, which played a significant role in shaping his musical journey. At the age of five, Daniel relocated to New York City, where he continued to cultivate his passion for music.
Between 2010 and 2015, Daniel returned to Bolivia each year to immerse himself in traditional music, studying under notable figures such as his uncle, Maestro Ernesto Cavour, a pivotal figure in the Bolivian folk music revival. This experience enriched his understanding and appreciation of world music, which he seamlessly integrates into his modern cinematic compositions.
Daniel pursued formal education in music at Lehman College, where he earned a B.S. in Music, graduating with Summa Cum Laude honors and Phi Beta Kappa distinction. He furthered his studies with a dual M.A. degree in Music History and Composition, and his thesis, "To Launch a Thousand Ships," reflects his ability to draw inspiration from literature, specifically Madeline Miller's "The Song of Achilles."
In addition to his academic achievements, Daniel holds a Professional Certification in Composing and Orchestrating for Film and TV from Berklee School of Music. His career in the New York City film industry spans over a decade, where he has contributed to both production and post-production roles. Currently, he is working on the soundtrack for "Motives and Aftermaths," a project in pre-production.
Daniel Silva's work is characterized by a fusion of world music elements and contemporary cinematic scores, creating vibrant sonic narratives that resonate with global audiences.
