C.W. Colt
C.W. Colt, also known as Coul William Colt, is a celebrated musician deeply rooted in the vibrant music scene of Key West, Florida. Born into a military family, Colt traveled the world during his youth, which exposed him to a diverse range of musical influences. His musical journey began early, singing in school and church choirs, and by the age of 12, he was playing in his first band. Influenced by artists like Van Morrison, Colt's career took off in the late 1970s when he signed with an agency in San Francisco. However, his path was not without challenges; he was diagnosed with cancer, which threatened his vocal abilities. Remarkably, after treatments and a special herbal remedy from a Chinese doctor, Colt experienced a remission, though his vocals were affected for years.

In the mid-1980s, Colt moved to the Upper Keys to be near his parents and became a significant figure in the local music scene. He formed the CW Colt Band, which became the house band at Holiday Isle in Islamorada. Known for his original music, Colt writes songs about real life and the unique culture of the Keys. His notable works include "Best Love," inspired by his daughter, and "Mi Amigo Mosquito," a humorous take on the local mosquito population.

Colt's career is marked by collaborations with legendary musicians such as Chet Atkins, Ernest Tubbs, Jimmy Buffett, and Bo Diddley. Despite performing at renowned venues like Red Rocks and Mile High Stadium, Colt finds fulfillment in the intimate settings of Key West, where he is a beloved figure among locals and tourists alike. His songs, such as "Is it True" and "The Characters Are Real," resonate with audiences, often bringing them to tears. C.W. Colt's legacy is one of passion, resilience, and a deep connection to the community he calls home.
