Corona
Corona is an Italian Eurodance act that gained international fame in the 1990s. The project was initially formed by Brazilian-born singer and model Olga Maria de Souza and Italian producer Francesco "Checco" Bontempi, also known as Lee Marrow. The group is best known for their 1993 hit "The Rhythm of the Night," which became a global sensation. Despite de Souza being the face of the band, the vocals for "The Rhythm of the Night" were provided by Italian singer Giovanna Bersola, known as Jenny B, while de Souza performed by lip-syncing in live performances and music videos.
Following the success of their debut single, Corona released their first studio album, also titled "The Rhythm of the Night," in 1995. The album included other hits like "Baby Baby" and "Try Me Out," with vocals by Sandy Chambers. After Bontempi's departure in 2000, production was taken over by Francesco Conte and Paolo Dughero. The group continued to release music, including their second album "Walking on Music" in 1998 and subsequent albums "And Me U" in 2000 and "Y Generation" in 2010.
Corona's music is characterized by its Eurodance style, and while Olga Maria de Souza is credited as a vocalist and author in recent works, there have been questions about the authenticity of these claims. Despite changes in production and vocalists over the years, Corona remains a notable name in the Eurodance genre.
