Claudja Barry
Claudja Barry, born in 1952 in Jamaica, is a Jamaican-born Canadian singer, songwriter, and actress known for her contributions to the disco, hi-NRG, pop, and house music genres. She began her musical journey after emigrating to Scarborough, Ontario, Canada, with her family at the age of six. After completing high school, Barry moved to London and secured roles in the stage musicals AC/DC and Catch My Soul, which toured Europe.

In 1975, she released her first single "Reggae Bump" and caught the attention of German producer Frank Farian, leading to her brief involvement with the group Boney M. Barry left the group in early 1976 and began collaborating with Jürgen Korduletsch, releasing her first single "Nobody Loves Me Like You Do" on the Lollipop label. Her debut album, "Sweet Dynamite," released in November 1976, marked her first entry into the Billboard Disco Top 10. Her most notable hit, "Boogie Woogie Dancin' Shoes," reached No. 7 in Canada and the Billboard Disco Chart in 1979, the same year she won a Juno Award for Most Promising Female Vocalist of the Year.

Throughout the 1980s, Barry explored new wave and Hi-NRG music, releasing albums such as "Feel the Fire" and "Made in Hong Kong." She achieved club success with singles like "Radio Action" and covers of "I Will Follow Him" and "For Your Love." Barry also appeared in the 1985 film "Rappin'" and continued to release music, including the singles "Born to Love," "Down and Counting," and "Can't You Feel My Heart Beat."

Barry's discography includes albums like "The Girl Most Likely," "I Wanna Be Loved By You," and "I, Claudja," showcasing her versatility and enduring presence in the music industry.
