Ciro Dammicco
Ciro Dammicco, born on June 16, 1947, in Bari, Italy, is a renowned Italian singer, composer, television producer, and film producer, also known by the pseudonym Zacar. He began his career in the early 1970s and gained international fame as the founder and leader of the Daniel Sentacruz Ensemble. The band achieved significant success with the song "Soleado," which sold over 2 million copies worldwide. Dammicco's most famous composition, "When a Child is Born," became a global hit, reaching number one on numerous music charts and selling 50 million copies.
His compositions have been performed by a wide array of artists, including Johnny Mathis, Mireille Mathieu, Kenny Rogers, Bing Crosby, Demis Roussos, Andrea Bocelli, Il Divo, Al Bano Romina Power, Charles Aznavour, Plácido Domingo, and Sarah Brightman. Some of his other well-known songs include "Linda bella Linda," "Todo el tiempo del Mundo," "Sharazan," "On ne vive pas sans se dire adieu," "Un prince en exile," and "Tranen lughen nicht."
In addition to his music career, Dammicco is recognized for his work in television and film production, notably as the founder of Videomusic, the Italian equivalent of MTV. Throughout his career, he has been affiliated with several musical groups, including I Bisonti, Flora Fauna & Cemento, and the Zacar Orchestra.
