Cesare Cantieri
Cesare Cantieri is a fictitious conductor created by the budget label producer Alfred Scholz. Cantieri was associated with orchestras such as the Süddeutsche Philharmonie, the Philharmonia Slavonica, and the London Festival Orchestra. The character was part of a scheme by Scholz during the 1970s to sell the same recordings under different names and conductors to various labels. The name Cesare Cantieri emerged in the 1990s when Scholz's catalog was acquired by Point Productions, which began releasing works under the Point Classics label. Cantieri is one of many aliases used by Scholz, who also operated under names such as Alberto Lizzio and Alexander von Pitamic. Despite being a fictional entity, Cantieri's discography includes numerous releases and compilations, contributing to the legacy of budget classical recordings.
