Carl Montgomery
Carlin Lavon Montgomery, known professionally as Carl Montgomery, was an American songwriter born on December 6, 1933, and passed away on December 20, 1974. He hailed from a musically talented family, being the brother of Earl Montgomery, a prolific songwriter for George Jones, and Melba Montgomery, a Grand Ole Opry star. Carl Montgomery is best known for co-writing the classic truck driver anthem "Six Days on the Road" with Earl Green. The song, which drew from Carl's own experiences as a truck driver, was originally made famous by Dave Dudley in 1963 and has since become a celebrated piece of American country music, covered by numerous artists, including Sawyer Brown in 1997. Carl's contributions to music are also reflected in his collaborations with his siblings and other artists, leaving a lasting legacy in the country music genre.
