Cantoma
Cantoma is the musical alias of Phil Mison, a London-based DJ, composer, and producer renowned in the Balearic, ambient, and electronica music scenes. Mison began his DJ career in 1991 at London's Milk Bar, where he played chilled Balearic warm-up sets. A pivotal moment in his career was meeting legendary Chill Out DJ José Padilla, which led to a two-year residency at Ibiza's Café del Mar. This experience significantly boosted his profile and allowed him to become Leftfield's tour DJ.
Under the Cantoma moniker, Mison has released several albums and singles, starting with his debut album "Cantoma" in 2003. His music is characterized by a blend of electronic and acoustic instruments, creating melodic chill-out tracks that have been described as sophisticated and exotic. Over the years, Mison has released multiple albums, including "Out Of Town" (2010), "Just Landed" (2016), and "Into Daylight" (2020), among others. His work has been released under labels such as Music For Dreams and Highwood Recordings.
Phil Mison's contributions to the Chill Out and Balearic scenes have earned him recognition as a pioneer and a significant figure within these genres. Despite his extensive discography and influence, he remains relatively unknown outside of Chill Out circles.
