Benvenuto Terzi
Benvenuto Terzi, born on 28 September 1892 in Bergamo, Italy, was a distinguished Italian composer and classical guitarist. He was the youngest of seven children in a musically inclined family, with his siblings also pursuing musical interests. Initially directed towards a technical career, Terzi graduated as an accountant in 1912 but continued to nurture his passion for music.

Terzi's career as a musician flourished particularly between the two world wars. He performed extensively across major Italian cities and internationally, including a notable performance with mandolinist Raffaele Calace in Switzerland during the 1920s. His first concert took place at the Reggia di Caserta in 1916 during his military service in World War I.

In 1934, Terzi co-founded the magazine "La Chitarra," reflecting his commitment to the classical guitar. He also published a significant instructional book, "The self-taught guitarist, comprehensive approach to classical guitar," in 1963, which saw numerous reprints due to its popularity.

Terzi was not only a performer but also an influential teacher, holding one of the first guitar professorships at the Istituto Musicale "Gaetano Donizetti" in Bergamo. Among his many compositions, "Carillon" gained particular fame, especially in Soviet countries, for its unique harmonic accompaniment technique.

Terzi's contributions to music extended to revising and translating important guitar methods, including the works of Carulli and Pujol. He passed away in Bergamo on 28 October 1980, leaving behind a legacy of musical innovation and education.
