Artur Ribeiro was a prominent Portuguese singer and composer, born on August 5, 1923, in Porto, Portugal. He moved to Lisbon with his family in 1940 and began his professional music career in 1944, performing alongside the legendary Amália Rodrigues. Ribeiro made his recording debut in 1953 and became known for his contributions to fado and Portuguese light music. As a composer, he penned several popular songs, including "Rosinha dos Limões," "Maria da Graça," "Adeus Mouraria," and "Nem às Paredes Confesso." By 1965, Ribeiro had composed 300 songs and 700 lyrics, working with artists like Max, António Calvário, and Simone de Oliveira. He also ventured into television in 1957 and co-wrote the music for the film "O Miúdo da Bica" in 1963, in which he also acted. Artur Ribeiro passed away in Lisbon on April 14, 1988. His work remains influential in the Portuguese music scene.
