Armando Augusto Freire, known professionally as Armandinho, was a celebrated Portuguese fado guitarist and composer, born on October 11, 1891, and passing on December 21, 1946. Renowned for his mastery of the 12-string Portuguese guitar, Armandinho was a pivotal figure in the fado music tradition, considered one of the heirs to the legacy of Petrolino (Luís Carlos da Silva). His influence and skill made him a legendary figure in Portugal by the time American travel writer Lawton Mackall documented his performances in 1931.
