Anthony Cruz
Anthony Cruz, born Rowan Smith on December 17, 1974, in Mandeville, Manchester, Jamaica, is a renowned reggae singer, songwriter, and producer. Coming from a musically gifted family, he is the nephew of celebrated reggae singer Garnet Silk. His parents were also talented singers, which inspired Cruz to pursue a career in music from a young age. After completing his education at Holmwood Technical High School, Cruz moved to the United States, living in New York and later Miami.

In 1993, while in Miami, Cruz met producer Willie Lindo, who was impressed by his demo tape. Under Lindo's mentorship, Cruz's career flourished, leading to the release of his debut single, "Tell Me What's Up." He gained popularity with the hit "Just Call My Name," which topped charts in Miami and expanded his fame to New York, England, and beyond. His debut album, "Where There Is Love," produced by Lindo, included hits like "When You Get Lonely" and "Love Will Never Die."

In 1999, Cruz returned to Jamaica to further his career in the reggae scene. He recorded "Maria Maria," a cover of the Santana hit, and continued to release successful tracks such as "Dem Boy Deh Nuh Really Know We" and "You Remind Me." Cruz's music often revolves around themes of love, and he is known for his charismatic stage presence and soulful voice.

Cruz's accolades include a nomination for Best Male Reggae Artist at the British Reggae Industry Awards in 2012 and winning the 2006 Reggaesoca Music Award for Best Reggae Combination with Buju Banton. His album "Cruz Control" was also nominated for album of the year by REGGAEVILLE.com in Europe. Cruz has released several albums, including "Mama Blessing" and "Fight With All Your Might," and established his own label, Shanshan Music. He continues to be a prominent figure in the reggae music industry.
